The machine is intended for the combination slaughter of bovines or rather it allows both traditional slaughter with pistol as well as the so called Islamic, by means of cutting the animal's throat and the subsequent exsanguination of the animal. A mobile wall inside the cage is able to horizontally move, limiting the space left for the animal.
This characteristic guarantees two advantages:
● reduces the size of the cage for smaller animals;
● in cases of Islamic slaughter, allows to position the animal with its head beyond the wall and permits a secure grip by means of special forks.
In the traditional slaughter methods, the mobile wall is normally positioned at the opposite end of the cage from the entrance. Once the animal is inside, the door is closed and shot in the head with the pistol. The animal is then unloaded by opening the two side and lower doors.
In the Islamic slaughter, the mobile wall is positioned to one side of the entrance so that the animal is able to place its head beyond the wall itself. Once closed inside the trap, the animal is forced to place its head on the lower fork. At this point the animal's head is blocked by closing the two fork. The cage is then rotated through 180° so that the throat can be cut. The blood flowing from the injury is directed by special ducts into the collection basin which is connected to the blood collection tank. Once the exsanguination phase has terminated, the cage is brought back to its original position, by means of a reverse rotation, and the animal is then unloaded.
Even with the traditional slaughter method one can choose to immobilise the animal by means of the forks so that the pistol can be used in a safer manner.
